Compassion in Action
Yoga encourages us to find inner calm and to live with compassion in the world around us. It asks us to recognize suffering, to speak honestly about what we observe, and to respond with compassion.
The yoga mat is where we strengthen compassion toward ourselves and others. Through the practices of Ahimsa, non harm, and Satya, truthfulness, we learn to stay open hearted without turning away.
Practicing Yoga On and Off the Mat
Ultimately, yoga is a journey of liberation through the active practices of nonharm (Ahimsa) and truthfulness (Satya) on and off our mat. Our individual liberation is tied to collective liberation. Yoga is relational and it seeks to end suffering which extends beyond personal practice.
